Formerly the milking parlour for Westfield Farm, it has,  in its history been a cow shed, cart-shed, stable, duck house and goat house!! We have restored and converted  the building to provide a warm and comfortable 5* self catering cottage and, as with Longhouse we have tried to retain the character of the building, whilst making it comfortable for guests to enjoy. Heating is underfloor and a log burner is provided for those chilly evenings. The facilities are listed for you, but that does not convey the cosy ambience of Ashpit Cottage which we are striving to improve every season, listening to suggestions from our guests. Walking through the door leads you into the kitchen area, living room and shower room with toilet. There is one bedroom with a bathroom with Bath, Toilet and Basin. The old dog kennel has been converted to a utility room housing Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer. Please click on the DETAILS OF ASHPIT COTTAGE PHOTOGRAPH for a Virtual Tour of the Cottage. Please note you require Quicktime software on your computer which is free to download

OUTSIDE    Ashpit along with Longhouse are part of Westfield Farm, set in 5 acres  was up until 1997 a working farm. The patio with seating  and the lawn behind Ashpit is for the sole use of guests staying in the cottage  as is the garage parking. Walking down the drive past the old barn the 3 acre field  with its summer house, orchard and barbecue. These  are shared with the guests from Longhouse. Here you can read in the Summer House, protected from the elements and taking in the views towards the Howardian Hills. The 3 acre field has been left to nature with piles of wood left as a habitat for the wildlife. A path walks you round the field (3 laps 1 mile) past the wildlife pond where the moor hens have been nesting for many years.
